The Iowa City school district is investigating what caused one female student to faint while walking around campus during a school day on Tuesday.Authorities say the student was walking in the street on State Street at about 10 a.m. when she felt ill.
“After several minutes she developed abdominal pains and then became unwell again,” the Des Moines Register reported. She was transported to a hospital for medical attention.
A school spokeswoman told the Register that her school has notified the school board and police were en route to the scene.
There is a medical bulletin about the incident on public schools statewide website.
The Register interviewed the student and the mother of the 14-year-old girl who told the paper her daughter told her: “I’m fine. I just felt kind of sick.”
